I received my first camera for my tenth birthday, a Kodak 110 point and shoot; I started taking pictures of everything around me and I haven't stopped yet. In 2005, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State University in San Marcos with a BFA in Studio Art and Darkroom Photography. While I am proficient in other art forms, it is the use of light as an artistic medium that has captivated and enthralled me to use photography as the main tool in my artwork. After graduation, I began regularly showing my artwork in local and state-wide galleries until 2011 when I began a year-long travelling and photographic exploration of Australia. Currently, I am in New Zealand preparing for a five month, 3,000 km solo walking and photographic expedition of both islands, after which I am planning an exhibition of lith prints taken on film during my journey and an art journal to inspire others to take on the world in their own life's pursuits.
