I am a retired chemistry professor in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I was born in the UK, and I grew up in Liverpool (home of the Beatles and scouse). I went to university in Manchester and Dundee, Scotland. I came to Canada in 1967, spent two years in Vancouver, B.C., before moving to Halifax in 1969 to take up a faculty position at Saint Mary's University. This is my 44th (and last) year of teaching chemistry full-time; I am also active in research in organic and medicinal chemistry. I got serious about photography when I joined the PGNS in 1973; then I got really serious in 1985 when I joined PSA and began to exhibit in internationals. I was awarded the EFIAP distinction in 1997.
