John Andrew Hughes was born within stone throwing distance to the gates of Edinburgh Castle in Scotland and spent most of his childhood living in London. John?s parents Leonard and Helen, handed him a Kodak Retina S2 camera at the age of 7 years. In 1975 he became an apprentice to the renowned Fleet Street Press Photographer Charles R. Cramp FRPS FMPA ABIPP. John was first published at the tender age of 16 years in the ?Bromley & Kentish Times? with a photograph of a burst water main. His work has appeared in every major London newspaper and many prominent magazines. He has exhibited his work in the USA and Europe and has an ever-growing body of work concentrating on Social Documentary issues. Recent assignments have taken him to Eastern Europe, Bahrain, Kuwait, Diego Garcia, Ghana, Africa, Thailand and Russia.
